Overview

A compact 10.4-inch notebook whose keyboard projects beyond the narrow body. The original consumer i Series s30 combined a glossy Mirage Black lid with an ultra-low-voltage 600 MHz Pentium III. Matte-black Windows 2000 business configurations followed in Japan.

Historical context

Its launch presentation emphasized a full-size keyboard, battery endurance and 802.11b networking rather than an internal optical drive. IBM Japan ended s30 production in March 2002 and described a future consolidation with the X series, bringing together the s30’s mobility and the X series’ business focus.
